FDOH Bradford-Union and Community Partners to Host Bradford-Union Food Day Celebration

Food Day - October 24th 

Both FDOH Bradford-Union and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) extension office, along with New River Community Health Center, Lake Butler Hospital, Subway, and both local public libraries will be teaming up to host Food Day on Friday, October 24, 2014.  The festivities will be held at the Lake Butler Community Center and will include:  a demo by IFAS on Hydroponic gardening and free starter supplies plus demonstrations on healthy food choices and preparation, free Subway healthy sandwiches with info on how to read food labels and making healthy sandwich choices, free literature on healthy eating and  a reading corner for children hosted by the public libraries,  and the health department will be on hand with chronic disease information, a nutritionist for individual consults, a physical therapist demonstrating how to make exercise equipment from everyday items, and conducting free BMI testing.
